Over 900 billion of our federal income tax dollars goes to the military, either to pay for present military expenses or to pay the debt on past military expenses. This is close to 50% of our federal budget. Join us on Tax Day, April 15th, at 6pm at the main Columbia post office on Assembly St. where we will educate last-minute taxpayers on where their money is really going.
![]() ![]() Information on military spending can be found at: http://www.warresisters.org/piechart.htm Many people in Columbia wait until the last minute to pay their taxes and line up in their cars at the main post office dowtown (on Assembly St.) the evening of April 15th. This line of cars sometimes stretches for blocks. We will be gathering on the sidewalk by the main Columbia post office beginning at 6pm on the night of April 15th the show the taxpayers where their money really goes. Please join us. We will have posters with the pie chart that shows how much of our tax dollars goes to the military. We will also hand out flyers with more detailed information, which can be downloaded in pdf format at: http://www.warresisters.org/2005_piechart.pdf If you want to join in the making of the posters, come to the CPRC office at 1337 Assembly St. on Tuesday, April 13th at 8pm. Bring markers and posterboard. Please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
