The South Carolina Public Service Commission will discuss the appeals filed with the PSC by Friends of the Earth, the South Carolina Energy Users and Joe Wojcicki challenging the PSC's decision approving the SCE&G nuclear reactor proposal. This will take place on Wednesday, March 25, 2:30 p.m. at the PSC office (directions: http://www.psc.sc.gov/about/
While we feel we have a substantive argument as to why the PSC should reconsider it's decision, they may well simply uphold their earlier decision. If that happens the decision will be open to challenge in the court system and we will have to consider taking that step. Here’s the listing in the PSC agenda’s for March 25: DOCKET NO. 2008-196-E - Combined Application of South Carolina Electric and Gas Company for a Certificate of Environmental Compatibility and Public Convenience and Necessity and for a Base Load Review Order for the Construction and Operation of a Nuclear Facility in Jenkinsville, South Carolina - Discuss with the Commission the Petition for Rehearing or Reconsideration on Behalf of the Friends of the Earth, the Petition for Reconsideration Filed on Behalf of South Carolina Energy Users Committee, and the Petition for Rehearing or Reconsideration Filed by Joseph Wojcicki http://dms.psc.sc.gov/pdf/events/24A0F4B7-DE2C-89D9-362A6C9A5532A2CC.pdf Thanks for you continued interest in a clean energy future for our state.
