WASHINGTON -- Thirty years after the first execution under contemporary laws of Gary Gilmore, members of the Abolitionist Action Committee will stage a highly visual demonstration at the U.S. Supreme Court on Wednesday, January 17. Wednesday also marks the day that the U.S. Supreme Court will hear three Texas death penalty appeals and when the 1,060th prisoner since 1977 is scheduled for execution.

The Department of Energy has scheduled a hearing on the environmental impact of what they call GNEP reprocessing of highly radioactive nuclear waste. The hearing will be February 15th, from 6:00 - 9:30 pm at the North Augusta Community Center in Norty Augusta, SC

On January 9th 2007 at 11:00 am the South Carolina Equality Coalition will gather at the Statehouse in opposition to Amendment 1. The event marks the first session of the 117th General Assembly.
