PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD EXTENDED The Department of Energy (DOE) will be announcing that it intends to extend the public comment period for submitting comments on the scope of the Global Nuclear Energy Partnership Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement (GNEP PEIS) from April 4, 2007 to June 4, 2006. NRC TO HOLD PUBLIC MEETING IN AIKEN, S.C., ON LICENSE REVIEW PROCESS FOR MOX FUEL FABRICATION FACILITY

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission will hold a public meeting April 12 in Aiken, S.C., to discuss its review of an application by Shaw Areva MOX Services to operate a mixed-oxide (MOX) fuel fabrication facility at the Savannah River Site. The meeting will be held at the Aiken City Municipal Building, 214 Park Avenue SW, in Aiken, from 7:30 - 9:30 pm.

MODJESKA SIMKINS HOUSE IN DANGER PDF Print E-mail

The home formerly belonging to civil rights champion Modjeska Simkins, now the Collaborative for Community Trust, is in jeopardy. The board that owns the house needs more than $36,000 to get out of foreclosure as well as a stable source of income for upkeep.

The board has until Tuesday to file an answer to the lawsuit. You can send donations to the Modjeska Simkins House at 2025 Marion Street, Columbia, SC 29201, or call (803)960-2079.
