Community Garden Work at Edisto Court PDF Print E-mail
Written by Lori Donath
Monday, 05 March 2007

Where: Edisto Court Community Garden (Wiley St. between Superior and Wiley)

When: Saturday March 10 12:30-3:30 p.m.

Guide middle-school visitors in a variety of straight-forward tasks (layering newspaper and mulch, taking apart pallets, putting up a sign) at the Edisto Court Community Garden (1950 Wiley Street between Superior and S. Edisto). AmeriCorps City Year Young Heroes Program will be working with us to get the garden ready for Spring planting and learning from their Edisto Court peers (State Fair Winners!) along the way.

We need a few adult volunteers to help the Edisto Court kids to guide their peers on Saturday (call Lori at 254-4743 if you can help). Beforehand we could also use help with collection of some more PALLETS (call Lori at 254-4743) and NEWSPAPERS (call Melanie at 446-2772) or write to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Written by Debbie Parker, Conservation Voters of SC Ed Fund
Sunday, 04 March 2007

We need your help to DUMP THE BILL and defeat big industry that wants to bring more out-of-state nuclear waste into SC. The House Agriculture Subcommittee (Rep. Jeff Duncan-Chair, Paul Agnew, Joan Brady, Robert Brown, David Umphlett) will meet Tuesday, March 6 at 2:30 in Blatt Room 410 on H.3545. This meeting has been scheduled earlier than expected so we have to move very quickly to respond/prepare. Not everyone in attendance will be able to testify, but we definitely want to PACK the room with concerned conservationists opposing the bill.
