The South Carolina Equality Coalition is co-sponsoring free advocacy trainings to educate people on how to communicate with their elected officials. The training will be conducted by Dr. John Ruoff, research director of South Carolina Fair Share. The sessions are open and free to everyone in the progressive community. Contact your representative on hate crimes legislation! Rep. Seth Whipper (D-Charleston) has introduced a hate crimes bill that extends protection to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender South Carolinians. Now we have hate crimes bills in both the House and the Senate. Please tell your state representative to vote "YES" to the Hate Crimes Bill H-3738.

HARTSVILLE : April 21, 1-6pm: Earth Day Conference at Coker College's Davidson Hall.  Speakers will include Professor Mal Hyman, State Sen. Gerald Malloy, Dr. David Lincoln (USC) and Dr. Pat Lincoln (Coker).  At 2:45 there will be an Alternative Energy Panel featuring Dr. Joseph Flaherty (Coker) Moderator; Dr. Terry Walker (Clemson) "Biofuel research"; Wendy Bell (Palmetto State Clean Fuels Coalition) "Clean Fuels in SC"; Joe James (Biomass Council) "Biomass in SC"; Dr. John Weidner (USC and Sustainable Energy Institute) "National hydrogen policies and SC research."  At 4:15 three workshops will be offered on wildlife, air quality in South Carolina and industry research/production.
