I remember when I first met Amanda Martin. It was almost 3 years ago at a press conference about the dangers of plutonium and MOX fuel. She was holding a sign, and I thought she was a college student. Well, I was right about her being in college, but imagine my surprize when I found out she was working on a double masters, and had been all over the world and already done more than many people will probably ever accomplish!

There were no WMDs found in Iraq, no al-Qaeda ties to Saddam Hussien, no threat to America. Still, the occupation in Iraq continues, the death toll is rising, the cost is rising. The presidential front runners both want to continue indefinitely this illegal, immoral quagmire.

We must raise our voices again to end the occupation. Join us to plan for a large scale peace action to take place in October. Wednesday, August 25, five members of the Living Room group met with Mayor Bob Coble to discuss our Columbia resolution against the Patriot Act, to protect our Civil Liberties from the hands of John Ashcroft. We are deep into the process of joining 371 other cities and 4 entire states in passing our resolution!
