On Sunday, October 17th of this year there will be a massive march on Washington demanding that the troops are brought home immediately from Iraq and that basic rights of working Americans need to be protected. This march, the Million Worker March, explicitly links the war in Iraq to conditions for workings Americans. Working Americans are paying for the war with their lives and tax dollars. This war is not something that is going on there, it's something that hurts us all.
The CPRC is a supporter of the Million Worker March. However, we are not the organization organizing the buses to Washington. This is because the South Carolina labor movements has taken on this task. The South Carolina AFL-CIO and the International Longshoreman Association of Charleston are coordinating the logistics. We should be proud that organized labor in South Carolina strongly and openly opposes the war and is working to end it.
Call the South Carolina AFL-CIO at 803-798-8300 to get a seat on a bus going to Washington for the march. With the election a couple weeks away, it should be an historic occation. Don't miss it! Call 803-798-8300.
