The Carolina Peace Community is a busy one. Many will not be able to attend the Peace Rally in Washington, DC, this month from the 24th through the 26th. Your spirit can travel with those of us able to attend by contributing to the group's efforts to pay for the bus. A combination of rising gas prices and other expenses has bumped this year's trip cost up to $70. Some of those very interested in attending can't afford it. Can you help? Contact Tim Liszewski at 803.446.2772, or send a check to PO Box 7933, Columbia, SC 29202, with a note saying it's for the DC Peace Rally Trip. Thanks in Advance! |

Another local concert is planned for Sept. 22 to raise funds for survivors of Hurricane Katrina. The bands are some of the area's best, and the cause is just. The Art Bar is the scene; music starts at 8 p.m. and includes Yukos the Crude, Biscuits, Tom Hall and the Plowboys (a CPRC favorite), among others. |

The signs read "Make Levees, Not War" and "Support the Troops -- Bring Them Home Now!" The bus arrived in the Washington DC area earlier than planned. And the 40 South Carolinians who rode the Columbia bus arrived at the National Mall ready to make a statement. They made a statement, all right -- along with 200,000 others. The largest Peace March since the Iraq War began demonstrated just how much sentiment is changing toward bringing the troops home sooner rather than later. |
