On November 15th, Judy Turnipseed of the Unitarian-Universalist Fellowship in Columbia sent out an emergency e-mail. A couple of evacuees from Hurricane Katrina (who were relocated here) had been told by their landlady that they were being evicted, and their possessions would be thrown out of their apartment by the 18th. Similar evictions are occurring throughout the devastated area. Don Mohr of the UU offered to drive down and salvage as many of their belongings as possible.

CPRCers returned from The School of the America's Watch ready to create a puppetista troupe here in Columbia. Several people participated in the Puppetista program in Georgia and want to share what they learned.

Shawn Paul Humphries is scheduled to be killed by the people of South Carolina at 6 p.m. on Dec. 2, 2005 for his murder of Mendal Alton "Dickie" Smith.

Join the South Carolina Equal Justice Alliance in urging Governor Mark Sanford to show mercy by commuting Humphries' sentence to life without parole. Call him at (803)734-2100 today.

On Thursday, Dec. 1, The St. Thomas More Catholic Student Center will host a prayer vigil at 7:00 PM in their chapel behind the Thomas More Center. The Thomas More Center is at 1610 Greene Street in Columbia. Their phone is 803-799-5870. Following the prayer vigil, some will stand outside the Governor's mansion.

On Friday, the day of the execution, those protesting the execution will gather at the prison, 4400 Broad River Road, at 5:00 pm.
