Still Thinking About a Blank Check for Government Spying? PDF Print E-mail

The Senate Intelligence Committee has approved sweeping legislation that permits the president to spy on individuals in the United States without court approval and to require telecommunications companies to support government spying without a court subpoena. The Senate Judiciary Committee is still working on its version of the bill. In addition, the House may vote this week on its own legislation returning some restrictions to government spying.
