Green Action Film Series Announces “The End of Suburbia” Monday, Feb 4, 7:00 PM Green Quad Learning Center Films are free and open to the public, discussion after the screening. The population of suburban sprawl has exploded in the past 50 years, so too, the suburban way of life has grown into the American Dream. Serious questions are beginning to emerge about the sustainability of this way of life. “The End of Suburbia: Oil Depletion and the Collapse of the American Dream” explores our critical era in which global demand for fossil fuels begins to outstrip supply. What does peak oil mean for North America? Are today's suburbs destined to become the slums of tomorrow? What can we do? All films will be shown at USC's Green Quad Learning Center, a one-story building in the middle of the Green (also known as West) Quad. The Quad is located south of Wheat St between Main and Sumter. There is a walkway through the middle of the Quad running between Main and Sumter, and the entrance to the Learning Center is off the walkway between four palmetto trees. Parking is available on the top level of the Sumter Street Parking Garage (as you drive down the hill on Sumter, from Blossom toward Wheat, take the first driveway on your right). Limited parking is also available along Sumter & Main Streets. There are also two university parking lots nearby, one on Main Street between Blossom & Wheat and the other off Sumter Street, further down the hill (south) across the creek.
