Bottled Water vs. The People

For months, activists like you have encouraged mayors to send the right message about the importance of strong public water systems by cancelling city bottled water contracts.

Not only have cities from San Francisco to New York City responded to the groundswell, leading mayors are now forwarding a resolution that encourages all American cities to phase out taxpayer spending on bottled water.

But the industry is not standing idly by.

The American Beverage Association, which represents Coke, Nestlé and Pepsi, has hired a team of lobbyists to defeat the resolution, concerned only about the implications for the industry’s bottom line.

If you’re like me – more concerned about the public interest than bottled water profits – please ask your mayor to support city water and vote for Resolution No. 70 at this year’s annual meeting of mayors in Miami.

Email or call your mayor: click here for a sample email to send to your mayor.

Let's keep up the momentum!
