Please come to the Public Service Commission (PSC)hearing Wednesday. This item will be short and sweet but the PSC needs to see our smiling faces.
The SCE&G new reactor matter has just been added to the agenda for Wednesday's PSC meeting, August 20, 2:30 p.m. - appointment of hearing officer to discuss with intervenors the requested schedule change in the SCE&G docket for the rate increase to build new reactors. The PSC has responded to the Friends of the Earth of August 18 letter to appoint a hearing officer this week to consider the request to extend the schedule in the SCE&G docket. I asked that the meeting with the hearing officer be held on August 25, but we shall see what the PSC says about that. Also, the SC Energy Users Committee and CMC Steel have filed a letter today, asking that a decision be made quickly to extend the schedule, as they requested on August 6. Plus, a bunch of you have sent in comments - THANKS! I requested a site tour for September 9, when I'm back in town and others of you have also requested a tour. I'm out of the country from August 23 - September 8 and will only have spotty e-mail, so if a meeting is held with the hearing officer on August 27 or before, I can't be there. Hopefully Bob Guild, the Friends of the Earth lawyer, can attend. I'll be at the PSC on Wednesday and hope to see some of you. PLEASE be sure come to the big hearing on September 10, 12:30 p.m., when the PSC will begin public discussion about start of "interim construction" at the VC Summer site.
