Two events will benefit from your presence Saturday 15 November.

Beginning at 11:00 AM on the Gervais and Main St. side of the state capitol building,
Young Democrats and Young Republicans of Columbia College will be joined by other local citizens for a Pro-Peace Rally. There will be speakers and an opportunity for networking.

Following from 1:30 to 3:00 PM, there will be a silent protest of California Proposition 8 and other heterosexual-only marriage plebiscites ratified in last week's general election. Protest organizer Sydney Daigle asks you to bring signs of support for the right of all to marry (see below), and friends, to the rally. If your sign is attached to a stick, the stick should be no more that 1/4 inch wide or thick, in keeping with local statute.

N.B.
Article 16 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, to which the United States of America is a signatory, states:

(1) Men and women of full age, without any limitation due to race, nationality or religion, have the right to marry and to found a family. They are entitled to equal rights as to marriage, during marriage and at its dissolution.
(2) Marriage shall be entered into only with the free and full consent of the intending spouses.
(3) The family is the natural and fundamental group unit of society and is entitled to protection by society and the State.

No language in this article specifies that the men must marry women or vice versa.
