![]() Momentum is building in Washington D.C. to jump-start the nuclear industry and nuclear weapons programs. Seems many have forgotten the costs, both human and financial, of this strategy. A number of the Department of Energy's plans involve the Savannah River site, putting South Carolina at the forefront of the latest nuclear standoff. At 1 p.m. on June 25 at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Columbia, two speakers will remind us why we should fight those plans. Glenn Carroll of Georgians Against Nuclear Energy (GANE) will bring us up to speed on the latest developments at the SRS. Jerry Bone, an activist with the Oak Ridge Environmental Peace Alliance (OREPA) in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, will present a short video called "Stop the Bombs". Both will answer questions on how we can get more involved in this essential fight.
