An urgent plea from SC Cares:

We at SC Cares have discovered several specific needs.

Even though the storm has been a month gone, another socio-political storm has developed that is impeding the accurate and humanely adequate care of these people, our fellow citizens.

Specifically we need an organization expert to help us create a synthesized order from chaos, here in our main office.  This person would serve as a sort of human information conduit.

We also need case workers, positive press coverage and, of course, money.  None of the staffers or volunteers are getting paid.

All persons wanting to provide assistance, resources or volunteer services to help Hurricane Katrina evacuees should now call the former USC Naval Reserve Center directly at (803) 576-7201.

Lines at the Reserve Center will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. You can also still e-mail your requests 24 hours a day to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
