The army arrived yesterday to the Juntas de Yurumanguí River; this area is located in the Municipality of Buenaventura.   Around 500 soldiers are stationed in the town and are hiding between peoples' homes.   They have also positioned themselves in the lower part of the same River and other rivers in the Municipality.   If confrontations occur, lots of civilians will be massacred.  It is important that from there, (The US), you maintain contact with the communities of Juntas de Yurumanguí and with our contact person,  Edinson Angulo, president of the Aponury Organization.  Please call him at 011-57-8- 520-2190, and show support.

The name of the Commander in charge of the Public Forces is Chinito Rojas.   Please call him and ask for the guarantee and protection of the lives of the people in the event of a confrontation between the Public Forces and the insurgents who are stationed in the area.   They have made public a list of names of the people that they will be detaining.  In addition, we know that they have a second list of names which they have not made public.  We could have massive detentions.
