Iraq is coming apart at the seams. As the whole world reacts in horror,
we at FCNL see in high relief what former Sen. Fulbright called “the
arrogance of power.” The irresponsible U.S. intervention in Iraq places
a heavy moral burden on everyone in the United States and a binding
legal obligation on the U.S. government to try to make Iraq whole
again. But the fiasco of unilateral U.S. actions in Iraq should not be
compounded by unilateral U.S. decisions of what to do now and when to
leave.
