PriceOfPeace.org seeks to raise awareness about the relatively small price of UN peacekeeping missions and their high success rate, compared to the cost of war and unilateral U.S. military action. We will call on the United States -- the largest funder of UN peacekeeping -- to meet its financial obligations for these missions through an online petition.
Unfortunately, war and conflict are far too prevalent in today's world.
That is why the international community has called on the United Nations
to undertake a rapidly growing number of peacekeeping missions. Right
now, the UN is helping to maintain peace, foster reconciliation, promote
democracy, and build the foundation for long-term stability in 18
missions around the world -- at a fraction of what it would cost the
U.S. to do so.
Yet the U.S. government has been continually under-funding its share of
peacekeeping operations. The President's budget request short-changes UN
peacekeeping by $500 million. Coupled with more than $500 million in
unpaid bills to UN peacekeeping, the United States could soon owe more
than $1 billion to the United Nations. This is the equivalent of less
than one week of U.S. spending in Iraq!
We need your support! We would like to invite your organization to
become involved in supporting the Price of Peace campaign through
several important actions. See the following links:

UN peacekeeping ensures that no nation has to pay all the bills or take
all the risks for peace and stability.
But the U.S. is behind in honoring its financial commitment to UN
peacekeeping operations.
Tell Congress to fully fund UN peacekeeping - sign the petition today at
www.PriceOfPeace.org. Peace. It’s cheaper than war.
