We have some sad news about a member of our Carolina Peace family. CPRC board member Eddie Lee passed away May 14th from a sudden heart attack. He was 44 years old.
Eddie was committed to waging peace through non-violent action, including creative critique alongside other puppetistas at the School of the Americas protest in Ft. Benning, GA. Eddie also worked to support U.S. troops and to bring them home from Iraq, and advocated for peace and justice in Israel and Palestine. As a long-time participant in Food Not Bombs, he shared food and good will with hundreds of Columbia residents Sundays in Finlay Park. Most recently, Eddie co-organized the April 21st counter-protest (see http://www.thestate.com/154/story/42974.html). He will be greatly missed.
Many have already contributed support towards Eddie's service and other expenses, and for this his family and friends are grateful. However, additional funds are still needed during this stressful time. If you can contribute support, please contact Elaine at 803-348-0911.
Please keep Eddie's wife, Julie, in your thoughts and prayers during
this difficult time. Sympathy cards may be sent to Julie Lee in care of
her mother, Mrs. Lonnie McKee, 3430 Clausen Rd., Florence, SC, 29505.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to Carolina Peace Resource Center and the SC Progressive Network (www.scpronet.com). Both websites have homepage "donate now" buttons, or you can send checks to: Carolina Peace Resource Center, PO Box 7933 Columbia, SC 29202
SC Progressive Network, PO Box 8325, Columbia, SC 29202
