Will Georgia Execute an Innocent Man on Sept 21st? |

 Troy Davis is scheduled to be executed on Wednesday September 21st in a case that raises severe questions whether governments can be trusted with the power over life and death.
Two decades ago Troy Davis was convicted of killing a police officer in a trial based almost entirely on witness testimony. Since then, all but two of the state’s non-police witnesses from the trial have recanted or contradicted their testimony. Many of these witnesses have stated in sworn affidavits that they were pressured or coerced by police into testifying or signing statements against Troy Davis.
Amnesty International has called for a Global Day of Solidarity for Troy this FRI Sept 16th:

Troy Davis' execution, which was scheduled for this Monday, October
27, has been halted, so that attorneys can file a law suit based on the
claim that he is innocent of the murder for which he was sentenced to
death.

 Three of us spent four days, from June 29th until July 2nd, at the 15th Annual Fast and Vigil to Abolish the Death Penalty. We helped maintain a constant presence in front of the United States Supreme Court in Washington, D.C. Using signs, conversations and brochures, we educated thousands of tourists about the injustice of the death penalty.
