Thursday, Sept. 11, 6:30pm: UPSTATE PROGRESSIVE NETWORK MEETING to follow Father Roy Bourgeouis, who founded SOA Watch in 1990 in an effort to close the School of the Americas in Columbus, Ga., which trains Latin American soldiers in civilian-targeted warfare. Many Latin Americans have died or disappeared by the hands of SOA graduates.
Come hear Father Roy, a self-described "Liberation Activist," explain what we can do to stop the unnecessary violence and suffering that the SOA inflicts. Sign up to join our group heading to the School of the Americas shutdown rally on Nov. 23, 2003 at Fort Benning. The meeting will be held at the Unitarian Fellowship at 1135 State Park Rd. After Father Roy speaks, the Network will meet and elect a regional coordinator and finalize plans for the Patriot Act forum on the 15th.
