Photographer Skip Schiel has made multiple trips to Israel and Palestine to document the situation on the ground, returning to the U.S. to speak on his experiences and share his photos.
In this slide presentation, Mr. Schiel sheds light on Bethlehem's Imprisonment – surrounded on all sides by an eight-meter (26 foot) high concrete wall, with access restricted through checkpoints. Cut off from the outside world, the Palestinian population is dwindling and Bethlehem's tourism-based economy has all but collapsed. Mr. Schiel will share his reflections on a November 2007 delegation from his home town of Cambridge, Massachusetts, and a solo walk from Jerusalem to Bethlehem during Christmas of 2007.
St. David's Episcopal Church is hosting this event on Wednesday, December 3, 2008. The church is located at 605 Polo Rd. You may click on the map to the left for directions to the church. There will be a supper at 6:30 PM ($4.00 per person) followed by the program at 7:00 PM. Thanks to Fr. Bob Chiles, Rector, and the people of St. David's.
